ABOUT THE DRIVE

Founded in 2018, the Books for the Better Book Drive has collected and donated over 16,000 books to neighborhoods all around Los Angeles, California. The drive aims to collect gently used young adult and children's books for youth in under-resourced communities. We believe reading and writing are powerful tools everyone should possess. Books for the Better hopes to make acquiring those tools easier for children all across California and beyond. We collect books year round and deliver to various organizations. Founder

Jake Matlof

Jake Matlof is a high school student at Geffen Academy at UCLA. The Books for the Better Book Drive originally began as his Bar Mitzvah project and then became an annual drive. As someone who enjoys reading and writing, Jake is trying to provide underprivileged youth in Los Angeles with new literary opportunities through his drive.

MIchael Matlof

Michael Matlof is a high school student at Geffen Academy at UCLA. Following in his (awesome) brother's footsteps, Michael leads the sorting and boxing process.
